Chapter 2
Drawing from Ovid’s myth of Pygmalion, the collection explores the boundaries between creation and desire, fantasy and reality. Masculine, military-inspired tailoring evokes Pygmalion himself, while corsetry, lace, sheer fabrics and darker tones embody the women who exist around him. At the centre is Galatea (the statue born out of Pygmalion’s creation) imagined through whites, sculptural forms and fluid draping, recalling the stillness of marble before it is brought to life. Set against a raw, industrial backdrop softened by richly patterned carpets, the collection places these opposing worlds in dialogue: the masculine and feminine, the constructed and the natural, the statue and the woman.
